Our story: Preserving Lincolnshire’s garden heritage

The Lincolnshire Gardens Trust was established in 1995 with the aim of supporting and protecting Lincolnshire's garden heritage for future generations. Lincolnshire Gardens Trust is an independent County Gardens Trust and a member of The Gardens Trust, the national charity for historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes. Together we work tirelessly to ensure the preservation and appreciation of these invaluable green spaces.

Our mission and impact

Lincolnshire Gardens Trust supports the county's parks, designed landscapes and historic gardens through three main strands of work. We run a programme of visits, which give members access to gardens not usually open to the public and often hosted by their owners. We award small grants to Lincolnshire schools and colleges for garden and horticulture projects, helping the next generation learn where their food comes from and why green spaces matter. Our committee monitors planning applications and new infrastructure proposals across the county, responding to planning applications where a development could affect a historic park, garden, or designed landscape.

Importantly, we also research, write, maintain, and publish information on Lincolnshire's parks and gardens, both well-known and less well-known.

County wide Research.

We research, protecting celebrate the county's historic designed landscapes, and give our members privileged opportunities to explore them.

Why your support matters

Membership fees and donations fund the Trust's grants to schools, the research behind our newsletters and publications, and our ability to respond properly to planning consultations that affect Lincolnshire's historic gardens. In return, members receive our newsletter three times a year, reduced rates on visits, and access to gardens that aren't normally open to the public.
